Heidelberg Cement has been active in environmental protection projects for several decades now. How this is realized in practical terms, that is shown by the new brochure entitled “Auf eine saubere Zukunft bauen: Ressourcen schonen, Emissionen mindern und Artenvielfalt fördern” (Building on a clean future: Conserving resources, minimizing emissions and promoting biodiversity).
The publication, among others, gives a general view of how Heidelberg Cement is conserving natural resources by using alternative raw materials and secondary fuels. In addition, the readers learn how the waste heat occurring in the burning process is used twice by using it once again for the burning process as well as for the generation of electricity. Further topics of the brochure are: rehabilitation and renaturalization measures taken in the mining sites of the company, biodiversity as well as the “Quarry Life Award”, an international competition for the promotion of biodiversity in quarries.
