Innovation: Ventilation sleeve 125 mm

Modern, airtight windows and doors are a blessing when it comes to energy saving. Unfortunately, they also create an ideal environment for mold growth. Indoor air quality deteriorates, requiring correct or – even better – controlled ventilation. The installation of ventilation systems in concrete construction is as easy as it is quick with the Primo ventilation sleeve.

The ventilation sleeve for central ventilation systems has a diameter of 125 mm and is available with or without magnetic attachment. It can be installed in concrete ceilings and walls without requiring formwork. As a result, it does not incur any costs for the disposal of polystyrene blockouts. In addition, the ventilation sleeve enables the direct connection of standard ventilation systems without requiring subsequent filling or smoothing work. The Primo ventilation sleeve is thus particularly well suited to use in exposed concrete ceilings.

 

Drilling not required

When installed at the precast concrete plant, it is either glued on the formwork table using hot glue, or positioned on the formwork by means of a magnet. In the next step, the precast concrete element can be poured and the ceiling connector inserted into the sleeve after having been cut to the specified length if and as needed. This is followed by connecting the pipes, inserting the upper reinforcement layer and pouring the concrete. When the concrete has hardened, a hammer can be used to open the lid of the ventilation sleeve from below at a predetermined breaking point. The mushroom valve, which has a diameter of 125 mm, can now be screwed into the completed screw bosses without the need for previous drilling. Installation times of the ventilation outlets are thus shortened considerably as only three working steps are required instead of the usual eight.

Installation of the ventilation sleeve is also possible in cast-in-situ concrete. To do so, the protective lid needs to be removed in a first step and the ventilation sleeve fixed in place on the formwork by means of nails. The remaining steps of the installation are identical to those in ready mixed concrete. The adapter ring needs to be screwed on, however, prior to installing the ventilation outlet.
