Groups announce merger intent

At the beginning of April, Holcim and Lafarge announced their intent to combine the two groups in a merger of equals. Both boards of directors backed these plans unanimously.

The product and service offering of the newly formed group would expand significantly as a result of its combined innovation power, research and development and consolidated portfolio of solutions and products. According to the two companies, their merger should contribute to identifying solutions to big urbanization issues such as affordable housing, urban sprawl, and traffic and transport.
