Dear congress attendees,

having embarked on a completely new path last year with the fully virtual BetonTage congress and exhibition owing to the pandemic, the large number of requests for face-to-face engagement we subsequently received prompted us to move back to the in-person format as the main congress option. In doing so, we want to make the exhibitors representing the supplier industry interact with the participants, while also catering to those focusing on continuing training with respect to the latest trends in building with precast elements by also live-streaming certain parts of the event.

The theme we chose for the 66. BetonTage congress, “Building more sustainably with concrete”, combines two ambitions: On the one hand, building with concrete and precast components must become more sustainable as such. Its carbon footprint must be reduced – by using less cement and more substitutes, designing and constructing lighter buildings and structures, increasing the share of recycled materials, and, ultimately, implementing carbon capture processes.

On the other hand, we are also confident enough to claim that over the life cycle of a structure, building with concrete as the mineral-based construction material of the 21st century will become the most sustainable construction method in its own right. This includes continuous innovation and an ongoing digital transformation process – topics that will once again be at the core of this year’s industry event.

For this purpose, we will provide a venue for the complete construction process chain, including architects, engineers, and construction contractors ensuring the increased use of serial and modular precast components, as will be the case at what is already the 3rd edition of the Construction Industry Future Day.

The right course has been set, as evidenced by the construction initiative launched by the new federal government, which includes a dedicated Ministry of Building. The government specified an annual target of 400,000 new apartments, improved depreciation terms, and a clear focus on serial and modular construction. Now we will set the ball rolling in environmental, economic and social terms thanks to our sustainable product range.
