Curving of concrete

The new central station characterizes the cityscape of the Dutch city of Arnhem. Its amorphously shaped hall roof is clad with large-size precast concrete elements which are curved spherically - using a new technology for their production.

The railroad line between Arnhem and Amsterdam was already opened in 1845; it was the second train connection in the Netherlands. Even at that time, the city in the Lower Rhine region had been a crucial transport link, in particular, due to the fact that from here the route continued to Cologne. The new central station, opened at the end of 2015, is the fourth station building situated at the same place.
