Compability of superplasticizers with ­cementitious materials

To study the effect that mineral admixtures have on superplasticizers performance, the rheology of different grouts has been studied. This study represents the first step towards the optimisation of the self-compacting concrete (SCC) mixes.

1  Characterizing superplasticizers interaction with mineral additions

The proliferation of high performance concretes in the last two decades has drawn attention to fine materials used to partially replace cement [1]. The use of mineral admixtures such as limestone powder or filler (LSP), fly ash, silica fume or ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) affects the interaction between superplasticiser (SP) and cement [2].
