Change of Management Board within Wasa AG

Effective from December 31st, 2021, Matthias Bechtold will step down as CEO of Darmstadt-based Wasa AG. He will be succeeded by Peter Webel, who has already been a member of the Management Board since then – alongside Tobias Hess.

Bechtold will move to the Supervisory Board of Wasa AG, which he will chair, on January 1st, 2022. Bechtold will retain his position as a shareholder even leaving the operating business and will thus remain – alongside Peter Webel – one of two owners of the Wasa Group.

The dual leadership around Peter Webel and Tobias Hess will be complemented by Jannik Webel, who will take over parts of the operational business in sales from May 1st, 2021. “Early and open communication about the changes within the top management is very important to us, so that the handover of tasks and responsibilities to all new people in charge works smoothly and our customers are informed right from the start,” says 43-year-old Bechtold, who has been working for Wasa since 2007.

“As a shareholder and future Chairman of the Supervisory Board, I have a double interest in ensuring that Wasa continues to operate as successfully in the market as it has over the past 60 years. With the new top management, I see the group excellently positioned for the future,” says the outgoing CEO.
