Towards Industrialization of residential buildings

The term “construction industry” is commonly used; however a more detailed analysis reveals that there is still progress to be made. There is undoubtedly a thriving manufacturing industry for construction materials and components, which are progressively becoming more efficient and of greater quality (ceramics, concrete, steel, etc.). However, building works basically continue to be conducted manually and are increasingly deficient, in the sense that the number of traditional handcrafters is decreasing. Systems need to be created to guarantee the quality of the work as a whole. This is the basic aim of industrialization.

We must focus on the production capacity of the current industrial structure in Spain and apply it to residential construction, to broaden its supply, and to use its production strengths and industrial logic. It is not only about offering a catalogue of predetermined items, but to produce different components that meet building demands.
