New repair mortar for fast concrete restoration

PCI Augsburg GmbH is extending its successful PCI Nanocret product family by addition of a fast-action variety: PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid is the new repair mortar for fast concrete restoration. The repair mortar, as a practical all-rounder, is suitable for all processing groups – from building contractors to building preservers to general providers. Concrete repairs can also be carried out at low temperatures to guarantee continuous work progress – from spring to autumn.

“Concrete repair work should also be capable of being carried out in cold weather and under time pressure. That is why we developed PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid,” explains Oliver Marek, Product Manager of Bautechnik PCI Group. “PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid is ready to receive surface protection in accordance with OS 4, OS 5a, or OS 5b – only two hours after application. This means, for example, that concrete repair and coating can be completed in one day. A building contractor will not have to drive to the construction site again to complete the job and to dismantle scaffolding or lifting platforms. That saves time and money.

Fast concrete restoration at low temperatures

PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid can already be processed staring at an ambient temperature of 1 °C. The mortar will always rapidly set. On cool days in spring and autumn, PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid is therefore the ideal repair mortar. It is just as suitable for use under damp ambient conditions in freshly concreted basements or underground garages. Downtimes on concrete surfaces are reduced to a minimum, and no waiting times for downstream works result. Repair mortar is resistant to sulfate and carbonation and can be applied in layers of 5 to 50 mm.

Easy to use

The special ease of use is important for all  processing groups: PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid can be easily mixed and does not stiffen. There is therefore no need to continuously remix the mortar. Its 2-in-1 technology is also practical: PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid provides bonding course and mortar in one. No separate product need be ordered to serve as bonding course, preventing in this way unfavorable interactions of materials – which could otherwise result, for example, in different setting times. Apart from its use on walls and floors, the excellent bonding and modelling properties of PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid make the new mortar especially suitable for overhead processing. “Its rapid hardening effect and a processing time of 15 to 20 minutes make PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid a good, quick solution for practical repairs and mortar seals. “That’s why we, in developing the product, placed special importance on homogeneous color,” says Oliver Marek.

In addition to the new repair product PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid, the Nanocret product family comprises PCI Nanocret FC fine putty, light PCI Nanocret R2 repair mortar, PCI Nanocret R3 universal mortar, and high-strength PCI Nanocret R4 repair mortar. All products are commercially available.
