Low-noise open-structured concrete block pavement –

Great population density means that traffic volume in metropolitan areas is as a rule very high. This leads to high traffic-induced noise exposure, which can have a negative effect on the health and well-being of the people who live in such areas. To counter such noise exposure, noise reduction measures must be increasingly implemented in inner-city regions. One effective means toward this objective is to reduce the noise where it originates.

Inner-city areas are frequently paved with concrete blocks, since they enable easy and fast  construction processes, and since the results are of high...
