Expansion to Japan

With a total of 140 guests being present at the German Embassy in Tokyo, Schöck Bauteile GmbH based in the German city of Baden-Baden gave the official starting signal for the entry into the Japanese market. Apart from Europe and North America, Asia is now also one of the export markets of the building component supplier. The thermal insulation element for balconies „Schöck Isokorb“, that is already well-established in Europe, shall now also gain access to the Japanese market through the newly founded Schöck Japan Co. Ltd. managed by Noboru Ishii.

The growing awareness in Japan concerning energy efficient buildings provides for the necessary momentum. Schöck has been preparing the market entry for three years in total. „We have adapted our product solution to the Japanese market. Here, the safety requirements are different, in particular, as far as seismic protection and fire protection are concerned. Since September 2012, the Isokorb has also been approved by the certifying authority BCJ,“ states Michael Schmitz, General Manager of Schöck.
