Trafficked pavements, for example on roads, paths, places, areas of congregation and storage areas, are, as a rule, constructed with asphalt, concrete or segmental pavers, depending on the expected traffic loads.

The objective of the study [1] is to compare the environmental impact of four typical upper pavement structures for traffic areas with surface courses consisting of various materials. These different types of surface courses are typically used for pavements and, according to RStO 12 [2], can be applied in combination.
