Motivation
New bridge structures must be erected as quickly as possible to maintain the existing traffic network or, in the case of overpass structures, so as not to interfere with the traffic below by obstructing it with temporary supports. This constraint leads inevitably to a demand for precast main girders that, for example, in combination with suitable construction systems adapted to the given boundary conditions can be placed by mobile cranes or erected by the application of the belanced lift method.
