ITA Sponsors Formula Student Team
The Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) of RWTH Aachen/Germany supports the Formula Student Team with tire covers for the formula racing car designed and constructed by them. ITA developed a denim fabric with an insulating layer manufactured for this purpose especially.
It is a three-play tire cover with a fleece lining providing the tire with thermal and mechanical protection. The good fit of the covers is achieved by inserted lacing cords for tightening up the sides. Velcro strips allow quick and easy attaching and removal of the covers. Furthermore, they are already working on a further development of the tire covers. The goal is a design that is water-tight and oil-tight at the exterior and resistant to adhesion inside.
